Mary Tavy Victory Memorial Recreation Ground

The Mary Tavy Recreation Ground offers sweeping panoramic views across Dartmoor. The large area includes sports facilities - including a skateboard ramp, netball and tennis courts, rugby and cricket pitches and changing rooms; a children's play area; a nature walk through woodland; a wild flower area and seating areas.

Graphic Words was commissioned to provide a small interpretation and guidance panel by the community group who had won a grant towards improving the area. We worked closely with the committee to design the panel. We created a map of the location, and a graphic to illustrate and interpret the view eastwards across the moors. We commissioned illustrations of wildlife which can be seen at the location, and included details of the funders for the project.

The completed panel was finished with a GRP laminate, and mounted in a sturdy wooden frame by members of the community group.
